About the Artist

A performer rooted in two living traditions

Aishwarya Bag is a classical dance artist and Bengali kabya abritishilpi — a poetry reciter — whose work moves fluidly between stylised movement and the spoken verse. Her performances draw on the vocabulary of Indian classical dance and the deep literary tradition of Bengali poetry, bringing both to festival stages, cultural evenings, and theatrical productions.

Equally at home behind a microphone reciting the words of Tagore and other Bengali poets, or in full costume telling a story through movement, Aishwarya's art is about carrying language — spoken and danced — to an audience with feeling and precision.

Philosophy

What Moves Her Art

Rhythm as Language

Every step and gesture is treated as a sentence — movement built with the same intention as spoken words.

Word as Movement

In recitation, the voice carries choreography of its own — pace, pause, and pitch shaping the verse into a living picture.

Tradition, Reimagined

Classical form stays true to its roots while finding fresh expression for a contemporary audience.

The Stage as Sanctuary

Every performance space — big or small — is approached with the same discipline, respect, and presence.

In Her Words

Why She Performs

Dance lets me speak without saying a word — every mudra carries a meaning older than language itself.

On Classical Dance

When I recite, I try to let the poet's silence and pauses breathe as much as the words do.

On Kabya Abritti

The stage is where discipline and emotion finally get to meet each other.
